This ca. 1860 printed document presents the results of the 1860 Missouri census, showing the population of whites, “free colored” and slaves in each county. The table lists the total state population as 1,182,012, with 1,063,599 whites, 3,572 Free Colored, and 114,931 slaves. Lafayette County has the largest slave population with 6,374 slaves. The table also reveals a small American Indian population in Gasconade and Jackson Counties.

He states that he is bringing this to Fowler's attention "for fear of subjecting them to a second ordeal in the draft."

On June 9, 1865, H.M. Rice writes from Albany, Missouri to A.C. Miller, Commissioner in Charge, 7th District Missouri. Rice reports that when he attempted to arrest several men guilty of desertion, they fled the area and have not been seen since. He concludes, "I think there is no doubt but what they have gone back to their Regiment."

On January 21, 1865, H.M. Rice, Deputy Provost Marshal, 7th District Missouri, writes from Albany, Missouri to Capt. William Fowler, Provost Marshal, 7th District Missouri. Rice states that he is forwarding the corrected enrollment lists for Gentry County, Missouri. He adds that "Negro Culp" has been seen in the area, possibly on his way to St. Joseph, Missouri "to give himself up." "I will get him if there is any chance," Rice concludes.
