The Missouri Historical Society Library & Research Center in St. Louis houses over 400 collections containing Civil War related material. Letters, diaries, photographs, military certificates, muster rolls, loyalty oaths, and many more unique documents are included in these rich collections. The Library and Research Center is open Tuesday thru Friday, 12 to 5 PM, and Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission is free and open to the general public.

Online researchers can visit the St. Louis Area Civil War Digitization Project digital collections at www.civilwar mo.org/gallery. This digital collection contains tens of thousands of documents relating to the Civil War in the St. Louis region and includes sources contributed by twenty-four local, state, and national archives and libraries such as St. Louis University, St. Louis Jewish Community Archives, Washington Historical Society, Inc., and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
